Pot Calls the Kettle

Well, we read the paper. (Why do we do this to ourselves?) The interesting headline about Slippery Slopes kinda caught our eye.
You can actually see where the reporter who's name is on the story, stops writing and another unnamed reporter takes over (dictates?) the remainder. Huh. (Grow a pair already, would ya?)
Interestingly enough, the named reporter wasn't actually there for the entire meeting. Nope, she left, and Sandi Kaye stayed to take notes. (The reporter that should grow a pair wasn't there at all.)
Also interesting to us is that the article is incomplete. Nowhere is there any mention of the Cemetery Clean Up, (the one no one from the paper bothered to cover {maybe cuz it wasn't bad news, and/or didn't take place in Chelsea} even though they knew it was taking place) which was discussed at the Council meeting. Course, how exactly, would you could you twist a Cemetery Clean Up done by volunteers into a bad thing?
Back to the "slippery slope" of council members or Village employees accepting gifts - can you hear us all laughing? Certain names come to mind immediately, as far as "gifts" go. One in particular. (hang on, wiping tears from eyes so typing can continue) Here's a question: How much did that lovely field stone retaining wall in front of a certain ex-Village employee's home cost? (Now you know as well as we do that had that retaining wall been in front our YOUR home, it would be some dirt with grass seed and hay)
And unemployment benefits (complete with maximum allowable payout and all the emergency extensions) for someone who is SUSPENDED from their job? Honey, that is a GIFT! (maybe it was a combination anniversary/birthday/Mother's Day gift - and it certainly keeps on giving!)
Let's not forget the severance package (no, they were NOT fired) which could be viewed as a gift, since some residents idea of a severance package would have been to run the ex-Chief and ex-Manager out of town on a rail. (And that was the nicest option)
Does the pot really call the kettle black? You betcha.
We think that there should be a headline that says: "Ex Village Manager Moves on to Local Paper - Sour Grapes Now Available in Print!"
Cuz he needed another forum. (not)
Maybe he'll move to Chelsea - heard they have a huge pot of money over there in their DDA. Oh, wait - they televise those now, don't they?

  2. Funny how ironic this post is.....you mention that the person writing for the paper should grow a pair...when you yourself don't put your name up on your blog.
    .......

Agreed that the paper should have been at the cleanup, did you happen to check if someone was able to come? Did you invite them yourself? Should the report on all news...yes definitely, but after all the negative comments you make towards the paper on your blog, would they have felt welcome? I think you've said it in an earlier post, remember when you are pointing a finger at someone three more are pointing back at you.

  3. You know what really burns my a__ period, Williams???? The sharks circling in the water just waiting for one sniff of my step-Dad's blood so they can go in for the kill. Gary Smith himself said after the election that he hoped we could all just get along, be neighbors, and do the best for our community and our town, the better campaign won, blah, blah...is that what he and his pals have done? NO, absolutely not. And I'll tell you something, Don Byrd was perfectly content and happy being a retired master electrican BUT he felt compelled to run for village president for one reason and one reason only so listen up...to be fair, honest, ethical and represent the tax paying citizens of the village of Stockbridge to the best of his ability, period. I am not ashamed, embarassed or otherwise to have my name known, as you can see. For the record, I do not dislike Dan Dancer our former village manager. As a matter of fact, I've known him since I was a child, I babysat his children, I swam in their family pool, and I represented his son as a buyer's agent when he purchased his first home BUT I hardly feel that the Sun Times can be neutral, and objective in their reporting when it comes to the village politics considering Dan is now on staff and it's no big secret there is a lot of animosity and disagreements between himself and my step-Dad. I think this blog is pretty damn accurate, to the point and also does a good job focusing on some positive news, stories, people, etc.

  4. hmmmm so you didn't address either of my points. I see that you are not afraid to put your name....but I wasn't talking about you. I find it odd that you got so heated and started bashing Gary Smith when that is not something I brought up at all. And when it comes to the Sun Times not being biased....we're talking about a cemetery clean up not a village meeting..........

  5. Point taken, you are absolutely correct. I apologize.

  6. The Sun Times manages to cover the volunteer effort to save the Pinckney Depot.
But not the volunteer effort to clean up the cemetery? How do they differ? One is important to Pinckney and one was important to Stockbridge.
The cemetery clean up was posted here and I heard quite a few people talking about it in town. Should they have sent out a personal invitation to each resident of the Village and the Township? And someone did talk to an employee of the paper. But they were a no show.
As for the blog being anonymous, does it matter who is writing it?
And I get to post my comments anonymously here, Williams. As do you, whoever YOU are.

  8. Yes, Williams, WHO ARE YOU, if not anonymous with your 'Williams' handle?

  9. Hey, Williams - this blog is so powerful and intimidating the Sun Times was UNCOMFORTABLE coming to the clean up? BWAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
If the Sun Times feels uncomfortable about an anonymous blog, they must feel down right terrified at meetings where they have to look people in the eye!

  10. It's a newspaper, don't they know what's going on in our Village? They read this blog, trust me. Keep up the great work who ever you are. The truth is all we need.
