Poster People

We would like to welcome the (apparently) new editor in chief to the Sun Times News, Ann Thomas. Her factually incorrect and grammatically horrifying "People Post" appeared in the most recent edition of that local bird cage liner. She seems to fit right in. We see that the Sun Times has found a kindred spirit in that they both went to the same school of journalism, where classes on truth and integrity are given daily by such luminaries as the now deceased Richard Nixon (who teaches via seance), Bernard Madoff and John Barleycorn. We're glad they found each other.
The Sun Times, which seems to hesitate in covering any local news and/or events that would shed a positive light on this community, was probably jumping for joy when it received Ms. Thomas' letter (being careful of course, not to tip it's cocktail) - firstly because it didn't have to pay her, and secondly because it was a negative tirade about every governmental entity in this locale.
While we would love to address each and every issue raised by Ms. Thomas, we just don't feel that we could hold your attention that long. What we would like to say is that we are a bit miffed that so much room was given to such a grossly inaccurate submission about Stockbridge. Notice we said miffed - not surprised.
While we can somewhat excuse the errant ramblings of a misguided soul looking for a venue, we still are left to wonder: What's the Sun Times' excuse?
Oh wait - we covered that already.

**Editors Note: We heartily support every American's right to Free Speech. We just also support the idea that the free speech be correct.

  2. Does the word hypocrisy mean anything to the anonymous "editor" of this blog? You berate so many people, push so many of your own views, encourage others to do the same and then issue this unbelievably personal and petty torrent against the owner/editor of the Sun-Times for a letter to the editor. This is obviously a personal issue and it is certainly not anonymous.

  3. The article was called a People Post, not a letter to the editor, and anyone - including the editor - who read that should have been able to see that it was wrong on almost every point and slanderous as well. I always thought that a newspaper needed to be careful about what they printed, even if it was a letter to the editor. I know for a fact that a certain member of SAESA gave her a letter to the editor referencing a fired village police officer and she refused to print it. Everyone in this village knows the Sun Times is not the local paper and hasn't been for quite a while. Ask any person here and they will tell you that the Editor has forgotten where she came from and who supported her with their advertising dollars. The Editor of the Sun Times has created her own reputation, whether she realizes it or not. I bet she has personal issues with many people at this point. I read this blog because I want to and I enjoy it and most of the time I share the views of the editor, and whether I agree or disagree, I can at least say what I'm thinking here.

  7. i was thinking fink. definitely fink. still unclear on who the fink/fool is. the person writing the blog or the person commenting. it would be wrong to talk about my cat like that. he works hard on this man. he's getting carpal paw.

  8. We can bandy about the probable 'F' words in Anonymous' post, however, we are treading a fine line here. We support your right to express yourself, using words that fit your emotions. We love words! We don't mind being a target for those words. Some people reading this blog may find that particular word, even if it's not spelled out, offensive. We are sure we offend people on a daily basis, but we try to restrain ourselves when it comes to language. We have been noticing a couple of comments using symbols instead of the actual words. We appreciate your creativity. Let's just all be careful not to cross that actual line. That being said, feel free to say what you think. We do.

  11. Why don't you start your own newspaper...oh, wait. You might not get to be anonymous - not that there is any question about what former Sun Times employee is now raging against her former boss ANONYMOUSLY. By the way...someone announced at the last township police committee meeting that she is not a citizen of the township or village, yet she is employed by both. The SDDA hired a person who does not live in the TIFA? The township hired someone who does not live in the township? Hmmmmm.

  12. There are so many former employees of the Sun Times it would be hard to figure out who you mean. But if you are referring to Monica English - who by the way is me - I was approached by several residents of the village and township and people outside of both with offers of financial backing to start my own paper after I no longer worked for the Sun Times. I turned them all down. I don't "rage" against Wendy Wood - I rarely speak of her or to her at all. Our paths rarely cross. As for this blog, well it's anyone's guess who authors it. And that's the point right? Guessing. Hence the anonymity. I don't give a rats ass that YOU don't identify yourself. And have a nice day!

  13. What do the Backstreet and Stockbridge Bowl have to do with this whole thing? You got something against bartenders now?

    ReplyDelete
  14. We never meant to imply and/or infer that we have something against the local bartenders. Far from it. What we meant to infer and/or imply was that John Barleycorn was one of the teachers of the classes we mentioned.
We wholeheartedly support our local bartenders.
    Honest.
It was poor wording on our part. Thank you for bringing that to our attention. We have edited the Post to reflect this change.
